About This Work
“This painting was inspired by one of my many trips to the coast of Singer Island, Florida. The ebb and flow of the ocean reminds us of the rhythmical patterns in daily life. The seas motion; the highs and the lows that mirror our life journey. The waves that continue to beat like a heart, racing at times. A pulsing and ever-changing body, enduring sun and storm, joy and sorrow. It is how life is to be embraced, in the ebb and flow.”
Born is Mainz, Germany, Susan Outlaw is a Canadian realist painter with a background in commercial design. Outlaw worked for years as an art director for a noted Burlington advertising firm. Susan changed direction to devote time to a young family and return to her original passion, painting. Susan’s work can be found in various private and corporate collections throughout Canada and the United States. International sales include the prestigious 47 Park Place Hotel in London, England. Outlaw started teaching oil painting at the Dundas Valley School of Art in 2016 to adult students. She has received multiple awards for her work, including the Ontario Arts Council. Susan donates her paintings to such causes as UNICEF Canada, Dundas Valley Art Auction, and Ryan’s Rays to name a few.
