About This Work
“Echoes is inspired by the frequencies of Pulsars (rapidly rotating neutron stars) and the frequencies from space. The colour's contrast and diffuse with the light and offer the viewer many intricacies to look at suggesting space, time and direction. The technique is Blown Glass Incalmo, Switched axis using threads of black glass and etched.”
Biography
Operating out of his glass studio in Dundas, Paull Rodrigue is a graduate of Sheridan College Institute’s Glass Program. Fluid colours and brilliant transparency highlight the sculptural forms of his work. An interplay of simple forms, his colours and rhythmic bubbles flow easily into each other, playing off the optic quality of the thick glass. Paull’s works are created using an Italian technique called ‘incalmo,’ where one piece of glass is welded to another to produce ribbons of light.
Paull has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across North America, making a significant mark in the Canadian contemporary art glass community with an unrivaled technical proficiency.
