About This Work
“I am heavily influenced by the Group of Seven. My mom was an artist and she always had their books in the house which I could look at. As time has gone by, I’ve taken their approach and put my own twist on it. I love thick black lines and I am a big fan of eastern Ontario, which is where I grew up. Being by the water is something that I love to do the most and this series captures the lake that I treasure so much!”
Maureen McNeil is self-taught and in love with trees, she uses different methods to get to the glow that she constantly chases, replicating what she sees when she steps outside. Creating beautiful Canadian art inspired by the landscapes in her own backyard.
She loves to disappear into the world of colour and endless possibilities… her meditative practice, curiosity, and the beautiful landscapes of Canada guide and inspire her daily.
You can find her in her studio/gallery in Lorne Park Mississauga along with her fabulous husband, four children and their dog, Eddie.
Curiosity drives my work, curiosity with colour with shape and patterns, the list is endless, and the possibilities are infinite. Being a landscape painter gives me a plethora of material to paint from. In my own personal style, with bold colors and strong lines, nature and my imagination collide to create what I "see".
