About This Work
“There is a theme that weaves through my abstracts. Since childhood, I’ve always been fascinated with the stars and beyond, what is known and unknown to us in our universe. Represented is my love of mark making, colour and shapes found in our world. There is a visible movement that always emerges in my abstracts. Sometimes I feel like space is hurtling towards me, something familiar happens. I try not to direct the breath of the piece, but it’s obvious that what emerges is my love of astronomy, travel and the wonders of our universe.”

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Tina Concetta Revie has been developing her artistic talent since childhood. Her formal training has included Dundas Valley School of Art where she completed her Certificate Level in 2010. Tina has won awards and commissions from prominent galleries and businesses like Southampton Art Gallery, The City of Walkerton, Owen Sound Banner Project, 3M Canada, and McMaster University, to name a few. Tina has shown her work in several solo and group shows over the past 18 years. Over the years she was active with Saugeen Artists Guild, Burlington Arts Centre and WAAH and participates in the annual DVSA Auctions.

Tina has taught acrylic painting classes and workshops. Currently, she resides in Branchton, Ontario (located outside of Cambridge).

Artist Statement
“Capturing a moment in life on canvas is what moves me to paint. Witnessing nature with the play of light and colour on the landscape evokes an emotional response that I need to express. For me, painting is a vehicle to celebrate the inherent energy in and around us and the interconnectedness of all things.”

I see the beauty in everything. Nature is my muse. My paintings are a process of exploration and self-expression, always evolving and taking new directions. I love colour. I paint with bold, loose and whimsical strokes of the brush. I am currently exploring with layers of acrylic paint, pencil and crayon markings, creating interesting texture in my abstracts, landscapes and florals. I love painting intuitively, from my heart and soul. Much of my inspiration today comes from my travels, rural settings and my own gardens, which are surrounded by farmlands, woodlands, and wildlife.

My abstract paintings are inspired from my love of astronomy, the movement in space, shapes and colours always emerge as a common theme. In the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity to visit my ancestral homeland of Sicily and Italy. I discovered new inspiration of using a different colour palette, pertinent to the light and shapes of the Italian landscape. My passion for the people and landscape will keep me inspired for years, recording my memories on canvas. Painting and my love of nature have always been my passions since early childhood. Everyday is an adventure. I am grateful and blessed to be able to spread joy, happiness and hope through my paintings.
