About This Work
“’Silver Lining’ is from a series of paintings around my cottage property in the Timmins/ Kirkland Lake area of Ontario. In this painting, the brilliant light that shines through the trees feels hopeful, restorative, the start of a new and promising day. This sense of optimism permeates the place, and each visit reminds me to take a deep breath and feel gratitude for silver lining.”
Biography
Holly Sneath lives and works from her studio in Hamilton.
Over the past 40 years, Holly has explored many genres, including landscape, portrait and abstraction. Her summer escape to the District of Timiskaming in Northern Ontario inspires the smaller works en plein air, as well as the larger studio paintings. The magical skies, the ever-changing lake and the crazy Jack Pines never fail to illicit a response.
She has been an instructor at Dundas Valley School of Art since January 2000, teaching drawing and painting classes in portrait, figure, still life, landscape and abstraction. Holly recently retired from her teaching position at George Brown College, Toronto, in the Design and Media Studies Departments.
Holly's work can be seen at the Carnegie Gallery, in Dundas Ontario. Her works can be found in collections in Canada, the U.S.A., and Italy.
She holds an MFA from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and a BA from the University of Waterloo.
