About This Work
“Being a plein air artist, I can think of no better place to live and paint than the Dundas Valley. With the old buildings of the downtown area surrounded by hills, water and beautiful countryside, I don't have to travel far to find an interesting subject to paint. The changing seasons also provide more diverse subject matter.
The fall of 2022 was particularly colourful in the Dundas Valley, and this painting represents the view looking towards the town from the Sydenham Hill Lookout. With its 360 degree vista, I have painted many times from this vantage point and never fail to feel how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful area.”
Biography
Dundas ON artist, Janet Parker, takes inspiration from the landscapes in her hometown and around the world as travel plays a major role in her art. Shape, colour and light ignite her works, especially while painting en plein air. Born and educated in England, Janet moved to Canada in 1969. Since retiring from her career in 2003, she has pursued art full-time.
