About This Piece
Willows have long held my admiration for their show of gravity and strength in vertical lines. I love the relationship between those evening colors and the inherently melancholic shapes of the branches. That aging blue sky was the perfect backdrop for what I had intended to accomplish up-front. This is a favorite of mine. I hope you enjoy it.
Biography
Marten Visser is a landscape painter who lives and works in Hamilton, Ontario. He works mostly in acrylic, gouache, and oil, recreating and interpreting the scenes he was surrounded by growing up on Georgian Bay and during the more than 12 years he spent working in the Canadian wilderness.
Today, Marten works both in a plein air style as well as from a studio in his home near Locke Street.
