About this Work
Painted en plein air during the tranquil hush of Autumn 2023 at Sydenham lookout, Christopher became enveloped in the timeless allure of the two cities below. Painted in an abstract impression filled with life, this painting veils a valley filled with highways, homes and industry in ethereal enchantment. Activating the inherent magic that is found within the Dundas Valley.
Biography
Christopher Cape is a classically trained painter with a passion for capturing the essence of nature through his works En Plein Air. Born under the sign of Gemini in 1976, Cape has cultivated his artistic vision over the years, primarily working with oil paint to bring landscapes to life. Based in Guelph, he currently is on sojourn throughout Ontario, drawing inspiration from the diverse scenery the province has to offer. With a penchant for gesture and a dedication to his craft, Cape's paintings beautifully depict the harmony between light, colour and atmosphere, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world.

Today, the City of Hamilton is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island (North America) and we recognize we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbours, partners and caretakers.
