About This Piece
"Fading Magnolia Flower" is an oil painting from a series that explores the ephemeral nature of our existence as the Magnolia flowers bloom for a short time. I wanted to capture the very fleeting moment of when it starts to turn from blooming to wilting and/or fading as a metaphor for the nature of our existence.

Biography
Sandra Manzi is a Canadian artist from Toronto currently residing in Hamilton. She is a graduate from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCADU) in Toronto where she received her diploma in Fine Arts/Experimental Arts and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Guelph. She is a recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts Council, and has been a finalist for the Boynes Artist Award three times. She has dedicated herself to painting in a realistic style exploring themes related to human behavior, being influenced by her experiences, thoughts, and travels – generally anywhere where she can observe people while not being noticed herself. Sandra's paintings merge the real with the unreal, the uneventful with the spectacular, the observed in real time with memories. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout Canada, Europe and the United States.
