About This Piece
Inspired by a dramatic sunset near the Hamilton airport, this painting is my way of making a fleeting moment feel permanent. I wanted to capture the high-contrast transition between the warm glow of the horizon and the cool, dramatic clouds shifting above the landscape. My goal was for the work to feel bold and recognizable from across a room, while revealing layers of rich, expressive texture as the viewer steps closer.
Artist Statement
My work explores the emotional connection between the individual and the natural world through the interplay of light, shadow, and high-energy color. By combining fluid, visible brushstrokes with a subtle tension of geometric forms, I aim to translate the raw power of the landscape into a visual record of optimism. Each painting reflects those moments in nature when we feel connected to something far greater than ourselves.
