About This Piece
Here, But Not Where We Are ties into themes of distance, cultural hybridity, and diasporic identity. It features simultaneous viewpoints relating to the bridging of worlds and offers a meditation on how memory and perception are reassembled through a layered visual language.

Artist Statement
Vick Naresh creates large-scale abstract paintings that read as immersive environments. Built through improvisation, his works balance geometric structure with organic form, using saturated color to construct shifting spatial fields. Rooted in memory and diasporic experience, the paintings explore perception, instability, and the fluid nature of identity.

Biography
Vick Naresh is a Mumbai-born contemporary artist living and working in Hamilton, Canada. Through a process of multi-layered abstraction, Naresh carefully combines biomorphic complexities, geometric structures, and the manifestation of imagined environments using vibrant colour. Exploring nostalgia, identity and memory, his work is derived from a wide array of lived inspirations and art historical references but also dwell within the realms of spiritual and scientific acknowledgements. His paintings attend to the intangible, positioning abstraction as a space where time, perception, and recollection remain in constant flux.
