About This Piece
This painting was done in my mostly grey and white studio, inspired by a pinkish full moon. I was craving colour after our long white winter and so looking forward to spring; I chose this painting for its saturated colour. The Strawberry Moon is the full moon in June named after the wild strawberries that ripen then. It is also named the Rose Moon; Hot Moon and Mead Moon.

Painting in the modernist style, Iris works intuitively in a loosely representational and highly animated manner. She has exhibited locally and also internationally and has work included in private collections. She has been represented by Gallery on the Bay in Hamilton and has shown her work there; as well as TBA Artspace, Carnegie Gallery in Dundas, Ontario, and Dundas Valley School of Art, Dundas, ON. Iris has recently shown at Earl’s Court Gallery in Hamilton and a juried art show at Summer & Grace Gallery in Oakville.
