Our 53rd DVSA Annual Art Auction runs April 1–7 featuring over 1,400 pieces of art – paintings, pastels, drawings, prints, photography, sculpture, pottery, glass, fibre art, jewellery and more. Take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to purchase original, high-quality and affordable artwork. 

Online Bidding Begins April 1
Bidding on silent auction artwork will be online and gets underway Monday, April 1. The closing of items will be staggered and take place over two days, beginning Saturday, April 6 and continuing on Sunday, April 7.

Wednesday, April 3 & Thursday, April 4: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 6: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Shipping

Shipment can be arranged for purchasers outside the GHA upon request. Shipping fees are extra and to be paid by the purchaser. Some works may not be able to be shipped due to size, weight or fragility. Shipping requests can be made to bid@dvsa.ca.

Terms & Conditions

LIVE AUCTION RULES

1. To be eligible to participate in the live auction all bidders must first register on our auction site at auction.dvsa.ca. The bidder’s name, address, phone number and email are collected as part of this registration process. All bidders will be provided with a corresponding bidding paddle upon arrival.
2. Only bidders with paddles are allowed to place a bid by raising their paddle. Advance absentee bids registered with the auction coordinator will also be allowed.
3. The auctioneer is the only party allowed to determine if a bid has been placed. If the auctioneer misses a bid the missed party has no right to have the bid re-instated.
4. All disputes over matters relating to bidding are referred to the auctioneer who has the final say.
5. All items are sold on an “as is” basis.
6. All sales are final. There are no exchanges, credits or refunds.
7. Some items are subject to reserve bids. This valuation is only an estimate and is not a guarantee of the object’s resale value or worth.
8. Winning bidders must pay for their items online in their account prior to pick-up. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. A 4% buyer's fee will be applied to all winning bids.
9. Successfully purchased items must be paid for and picked up by the winning bidder by April 13th, 2024.

ALL BIDDING
Please be advised that by placing a bid, you are entering into a legally binding contract with Dundas Valley School of Art (DVSA). If you are the successful winning bidder, you have a legal obligation to purchase the item(s) won from DVSA. Furthermore, a bidder acknowledges that proper and careful due diligence has been conducted prior to placing any bid, and that the bidder knowingly and willfully placed a legally binding bid. Any questions prior to bidding should be emailed to DVSA (bid@dvsa.com ). DVSA reserves the right to withdraw or combine any lots listed in the auction at any time with no liability. Furthermore, DVSA reserves the right to cancel or replace an order post auction if (a) it does not successfully pass and meet our quality control standards or (b) it was sold in error. In the event this occurs, DVSA may provide the winning bidder with the same, similar, or upgraded item at no additional charge to the bidder; or at DVSA’s sole discretion, provide a refund.

The successful winning bidder is the highest bidder acknowledged by the auction site. DVSA will have final discretion in determining the winning bidder and in resolving any disputes between bidders. If any dispute arises after the sale, the DVSA sale record shall govern. Winning bidders must pay for the entire invoice prior to item being released.

BUYER’S FEE
Each lot sold in our auction is subject to a 4 percent (4%) buyer's fee, used to cover online administrative costs and fees. (For example: A $100 Hammer (bid) will equate to $100 + $4 buyer's fee for a total of $104.)

CONDITION
Conditions and substantial defects are disclosed and/or photographed to the best of our ability. Accordingly, minor defects may not be disclosed, which can be expected in pre-owned or vintage items. Please review images carefully as all items are SOLD AS IS. Keep in mind that on certain monitors, photos and light may depict slight color variations. Unless specified in the lot description, the item may not come with a box, papers, dust-bags, or authenticity card/certificate.

RETURN POLICY
ALL SALES ARE FINAL. All items are SOLD AS IS, with all disclosed faults. In the event an item description does not match the item received, DVSA will provide a refund.

LIABILITY AND DISCLAIMERS
We do not warrant that the live or timed auction service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that bids will be received by the Service or information regarding current price will be transmitted in a timely fashion, nor do we guarantee the performance of any obligations.

We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or secure access to the Services, and operation of the Site may be interfered with by numerous factors outside of our control. Internet connection speed will determine how rapidly pages with photographs load to your browser.

Neither DVSA nor any provider of third party content or their respective agents warrants that the site or service will meet your requirements or be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error free.

The limitation of liability contained in this section apply to any damages or injury caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, computer virus, communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of record, whether for breach of contract, tortious behavior, negligence, or under any other cause of action. You specifically acknowledge that DVSA is not liable for the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of other users or third parties and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with you.

DVSA, its Vendors and/or Consignors disclaim any warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to the Implied Warranty of Merchantability or Fitness for any particular purpose. Neither DVSA, nor its Vendors and/or Consignors will be held responsible for any descriptions of the rarity, quality, condition, size, importance, or provenance of an item. While DVSA representatives, to the best of their ability, describe the items for sale, any statement, whether oral or written, by the authorized DVSA representative are mere opinions and shall not be deemed a warranty or representation regarding the item(s) offered for sale. Starting bids are calculated based on a combination of previous sales for similar items, supply and demand, rarity, and targeted price range. Starting bids are not Reserves and indicate a minimum price needed for an item to be sold. The bidder is responsible for assessing the age, size, condition and value of the item(s) before bidding. By placing a bid, you are acknowledging that you have examined the item to your satisfaction or have chosen not to examine it.

By registering for and/or placing a bid in any DVSA auction, you acknowledge that you have read, understand and agree to our Shipping, Payment & Auction Policies.

ITEM PICK-UP
Once payment has been received, DVSA will coordinate item pick-up and will do our best to have all items wrapped and available at the designated time.

PAYMENT (IMMEDIATE CHARGE)
Payments for winning bids may be made on-line with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX and more. All items must be paid for within twenty-four (24) hours from the date the auction item closes. DVSA reserves the right to delay shipment of items until all funds have been received and cleared.
