Biography
Jody Joseph is a painter with Modernist roots. Working primarily from observation, she paints the world around her—her neighbourhood, her studio, her beloved collections—working to capture the living, breathing space that animates it all.
Joseph has 30+ year international exhibition record. Earls Court Gallery, which represents her in the Hamilton area, recently presented her second large solo show. Prior to that, she had over 10 solo shows at Gallery on the Bay (now closed.) Joseph’s work has also been included in exhibitions at public galleries.
Joseph’s primary artistic mentor was the Abstract Expressionist painter Nicolas Carone whom she worked with for many years at the school he founded in Italy.
Joseph has taught painting, drawing, and collage at DVSA, in addition to teaching in Italy for many years. She has also curated scores of exhibitions, and was the inaugural curator of the TBA Artspace at Dundas’ Carnegie Gallery.
More of Joseph’s work, including her paintings of Dundas houses and neighbourhoods, can be seen at www.jodyjoseph.com or on Instagram at Jody Joseph Paintings or at Earl’s Court Gallery.
