About This Piece
Dreaming Dragonflies is the result of my meditations and observations of the beautiful and varied waterlilies at the RBG Rock Garden Pond. I wish to convey a sense of the magical by depicting the sky reflected, the exquisite lilies in their ranging colours, and the mystery of the unknown, submerged within the shadows.
Biography
I have been painting for many years, exploring several different genres with numerous media. The current work is a return to oil painting, after a long period with acrylics, pastels, etc. I am an avid gardener and have recently found much joy in depicting some of my favourite specimens. Portraits, figures, landscapes and abstraction have all cycled through my studio, and I expect I will return to these again and again in the coming years. I have been teaching drawing and painting classes at Dundas Valley School of Art for 25 years. I taught at George Brown College in both Design and Media Departments. I received an MFA in Painting from Cornell University in 1990 and a BA from University of Waterloo in 1988. My work is in collections across Canada, the US and Italy.
