About This Piece
The scene in the painting is from a lookout point on a bend of the Onakawana River, just before it meets the Abitibi, 80km South of James Bay. It came from a January painting trip with the group Untamed Things. We went on two plein air paintings trips to Camp Onakawana during an 18-month long project to capture the landscape and life at Camp Onakawana and bring awareness to the Onakawana Education Fund.
