About This Piece
“Spring Thaw” was inspired by the way the mist simplified the tree line – the texture of the grass and the somewhat abstract shapes of the snow patches. Beauty so simple. It made it a very calming scene during a lovely walk in the Halton Hills area.
Artist Statement
My mission as an artist is simple – I look for beauty wherever I can find it and portray that vision in a painting. If I have done well, I will once again experience what I felt in the original vision.
Biography
For 20 years, Lorne Winters established himself as one of Canada's leading commercial artists. Having served numerous international clients, the likes of which include Coca-Cola, Nike, and General Motors, Lorne has also remained connected to the more personal side of his art.
With a passion for oil, Lorne discovered a medium that allows him the versatility and flexibility to explore and expand his capabilities as a painter. In the time Lorne has devoted himself to his fine art, the response to his work has been extremely favourable.
Lorne Winters’ interest in art goes back to his childhood in Toronto—a time when as many hours were spent sketching as those spent simply being a kid. He would see this early passion extend into his professional life when he became a highly respected and sought-after commercial artist. Lorne currently resides in Halton Hills, Ontario.
