About This Piece
Castle Combe is a small Cotswold village in the county of Wiltshire about 100 miles west of London. Several times it has been voted the prettiest village in England and because of this, many movies including Dr. Dolittle and more recently War Horse have been filmed there.

I grew up just a few miles from here so I visited it often. Then it was a quiet sleepy village but these days it is overrun with tourists from all over the world.

The quaint cotswold stone houses, old church and market cross dating back to the 13th century have always been a source of inspiration for me so I have painted it often.

This view is from the brook which runs through the village and includes some of the centuries-old weaver's cottages looking towards the main street.
